Stuart Edward Cole

Age 88, of Wilmington, DE, died Wednesday, January 3, 2007, in Christiana Care Center, Newark.

Mr. Cole was born August 21, 1918, in Wyandotte, MI to the late Hugh Ingersoll Cole & Agnes Clara (nee Navarre) Cole.

Mr. Cole was superintendent and manager of the Ore Docks for Great Lakes Steel a division of the National Steel Corp. in Del Ray, MI for 40 years.

Mr. Cole was noted for his love of life and family most especially his loving wife of 50 years, Olive. He traveled to see his family every chance he got enjoying all the special family occasions. He was an avid reader enjoyed travel and baking cookies, he was known by many as the "cookie man" and he was involved in many activities.

He was a Mason, a veteran and a gentleman. Mr. Cole served in the United States Army during WWII in Italy. He spent most his life in MI and lived in DE for the last 5 years.

He was a member of the Wyandotte Model Train Club, the AM VETS, and an active member of the First Congregational Church of Wyandotte.

Mr. Cole was a member of the Royal Order of Jesters #28 in Detroit, and the Scottish Rite Valley of Detroit where he earned the Meritorious Service Award and he was a member of the York Rite Masons in Detroit he was also a member of many clubs including the Down River Shrine Club and the High Noon Masonic Club.

He was also a member of the Trenton/Wyandotte Lodge #8 F & AM for 55 years and Dover's Union Lodge #7 AF & AM.


Mr. Cole is survived by 2 sons, Norman Edward Cole (Janet), of Idaho Falls, ID and S. Curtis Cole (Theresa), of Camden, DE; 1 daughter, Ellen Louise DeMunnik (James), of Chesterfield, MI; 5 granddaughters, Michele Marinucci, of Camden, DE, Karianne Fallow, of Eagle, ID, Kathryn Cole, of Houston, TX, Kirsten Capeless, of Magnolia, DE and Megan Knight of Boise, ID; 4 great-grand-children, Valerie and Mason Capeless and Nick and Chris Marinucci. Mr. Cole was predeceased by his wife, Olive Cole (nee Ohs)

Memorial services will be held at 2 pm, Sunday, January 14, 2007, in TORBERT FUNERAL CHAPEL SOUTH, 1145 Lebanon Rd. (Rt. 10), Dover.

In lieu of flowers the family suggests contributions be made to the Masonic Home, 4800 Lancaster Pike, Wilmington, DE 19807.
