The Grand Master M W Earl L. Emerson Greetings Brethren; I am deeply honored to have been installed as the 155th Grand Master of Masons in Delaware. For me, it is a dream come true. The men who have held this title are well respected and are a very distinguished group of men, and I hope that I can measure up to them. My wife, Nancy and I had many discussions about the position of Grand Master, and she was looking forward to it. However, she lost her fight with cancer in February, 2007. She didn't get to see me elected or installed as Grand Master, but I know she would have been very pleased. My charity this year is Highfield, our Masonic Home. Masonic charity is known through out the world, and I hope that you will support our Masonic Home when the annual appeal letter shows up at your door. I encourage you to visit the home and see for yourselves how happy the residents are, how cheerful and efficient the staff is, and how clean the home and grounds are. The food is excellent and there is plenty of it. Just visit the Masonic Home; I know that you will like it.
I am also continuing M. W. William Stevens' theme of Educate and Communicate. I think the more knowledge a Mason has, the more he will strive to become a better Mason. The PCKET PETITION PROGRAM was started because men ask a Mason how they can join our Fraternity. They are then told they have to fill out a petition and turn it into the Lodge. When the candidate asks for a petition, he is that the Lodge Secretary has them, so the candidate is put off. If the Lodge Secretary doesn't have a petition, he has to contact to contact Grand Lodge to get some petitions sent to him. This could take from a couple days to a couple of months. In the mean time, the candidate has forgotten about becoming a Mason and gone on to something else. With the POCKET PETITION, you can take out your wallet and give him a petition on the spot. You can even sign it. This will eliminate the waiting, and our Fraternity might have a new Mason. I would like to extend my thanks to the Job's Daughters for doing a Closing Cross at my installation. I would like to give a special thank you to Bethel #4 of Middletown and their Bethel Guardian Beth Johnson for all of their help and assistance with the refreshments that were served at my installation. The young men of DeMolay are to be congratulated for doing a great job as well. The youth of the DeMolay and Job's Daughters deserve our support and encouragement for the years to come. Remember, our youth make up 25% of our population, however they are 100% of our future. Again, I want to thank everyone for voting for me and attending my installation. It was an event that I will cherish for the rest of my life God bless the military men and women that are in harm's way, and God Bless this great nation that we call the "United States of America." So mote it be.
